3. AI Agent Functionality
Aera Browser includes an integrated AI agent ("the Agent") that can perform actions on your behalf within the browser environment. You acknowledge and agree to the following:
3.1 Agent Capabilities
The Agent can navigate to websites, read page content, click elements, type text, scroll, take screenshots, and perform other browser interactions based on your instructions. The Agent acts as your automated representative when interacting with websites and web applications.
3.2 User Authorization
By using the Agent, you authorize it to perform actions on websites where you may be logged in or have accounts. This includes but is not limited to social media platforms, email services, e-commerce sites, and financial services. You are solely responsible for all actions the Agent performs on your behalf.
3.3 AI Limitations
The Agent uses artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. AI systems can make mistakes, misinterpret instructions, or produce unexpected results. You acknowledge that:
- The Agent may not always correctly understand your instructions
- The Agent may perform unintended actions
- AI-generated outputs and decisions should be verified by you
- The Agent cannot guarantee accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of its actions
3.4 Third-Party AI Services
The Agent functionality requires an API key from a third-party AI provider (currently OpenRouter). Your use of these services is subject to the respective provider's terms of service and privacy policies. Your API key is stored locally on your device and we do not have access to it. Data sent to AI providers is processed according to their privacy policies.
4. Security Risks & Prompt Injection
Important: Please read this section carefully.
4.1 Prompt Injection Vulnerabilities
AI agents that interact with web content are inherently susceptible to "prompt injection" attacks. Malicious actors may embed hidden instructions or manipulated content within websites that could influence the Agent's behavior. This is a known limitation of current AI technology.
4.2 Potential Risks Include:
- Manipulated Actions: Malicious website content could potentially instruct the Agent to perform unintended actions
- Data Exfiltration: Crafted content could attempt to cause the Agent to reveal sensitive information
- Unauthorized Transactions: Compromised instructions could lead to unintended purchases or actions
- Account Compromise: Malicious prompts could attempt to manipulate account settings or permissions
- Social Engineering: Deceptive content could mislead the Agent into performing harmful actions
4.3 User Responsibility
By using Aera Browser and its AI Agent features, you acknowledge and accept these security risks. You assume full responsibility for:
- Monitoring and reviewing the Agent's actions
- Avoiding use of the Agent on sensitive or high-risk websites without careful supervision
- Understanding that no technical safeguards can completely prevent prompt injection attacks
- Any consequences arising from the Agent's interactions with malicious content
- Implementing appropriate precautions when using automated browsing features
4.4 Recommended Precautions
We strongly recommend:
- Reviewing Agent actions before confirming sensitive operations
- Avoiding automated actions on financial, healthcare, or other critical services without supervision
- Being cautious when visiting unfamiliar websites with Agent features enabled
- Regularly reviewing your accounts for unauthorized activity
5. MCP Server Functionality
Aera includes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows external AI tools and applications to interact with the browser.
5.1 MCP Capabilities
When enabled, the MCP server allows external tools to:
- Navigate the browser to specified URLs
- Read page content and extract information
- Perform clicks, typing, and other interactions
- Take screenshots of browser content
- Access structured page element information
5.2 User Control
You have control over the MCP server through Aera's settings. You can enable or disable the server and configure its persistence. By enabling the MCP server, you authorize external tools to control browser actions on your behalf.
5.3 Security Considerations
The MCP server exposes powerful browser control capabilities. You are responsible for ensuring that only trusted applications connect to the MCP server. We are not responsible for actions taken by external tools through the MCP interface.
6. Third-Party Services
6.1 Third-Party Websites
Aera allows you to access third-party websites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party website. Your interactions with third-party websites are governed by their respective terms and policies.
6.2 AI Provider Services
The Agent functionality relies on third-party AI services (such as OpenRouter). Your use of these services is subject to their terms. We do not control how these services process data and are not responsible for their actions or policies.
6.3 Search Engines
Aera integrates with third-party search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo). Your use of search functionality is subject to the respective search provider's terms of service.
